The City of Buenos Aires has entered into an important alliance with the City of New York. Through this agreement, the citizens of Buenos Aires will be able to enjoy new performances of the New York Metropolitan Opera House, via live HD via satellite. CCCT 25 de Mayo is the first Latin American Theater to take part in this great project.
This time we shall enjoy Lucia di Lammermoor, one of Gaetano Donizetti’s Operas
( 1865) based on the novel “The Bride of Lammermoor” by Sir Walter Scott. For decades Lucia was considered to be a mere showpiece for coloratura sopranos and was a little-known part of the operatic repertory. However, stars such as Maria Callas and Joan Sutherland revived the opera in all its depth and glory. For this very reason, I have chosen this opera for viewing via the MET. Though this performance, we will be able to listen to and enjoy two of opera’s most glamorous singers: Anna Netrebbko (soprano) and Rolando Villazón (tenor).
Sir Walter Scott’s novel is based on historic events that took place in mid seventeenth century Scotland. A love story, it is set in the midst of a feud between two families.
Mr. Sergio Ionescu will be on hand to give us an exclusive talk prior to the performance.
Please take the time to RSVP prior to the date of this event.
